    Dow Jones commponents and economic indicators : a factor analysis approach
    This paper explores the relationships between economic indicators and movements in the Dow components returns. There have been numerous attempts to identify these relationships: the Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT), one of these approaches, contributes directly to the mult(factor model. The theory, introduced by Ross in 19 7 6, has been a valuable approach to analyzing security returns because the APT allows analysts to study the effects of multiple influential factors . Factor analysis is then used to analyze these factors, a group of economic indicators, and a group of security returns. Factor analysis identifies a new set of uncorrelated variables for economic indicators, and another new set of uncorrelated variables for stock returns. This study provides additional support to the idea that the returns on securities are influenced both by the market, and by economic conditions.

    Perception of effective teaching characteristics : a case study of MBA program students of Assumption University, Thailand
    This study determined students' perceptions of effective teaching characteristics which promote learning in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, and identified personal factors influencing their perceptions of effective teaching. The researcher selected seven personal factors (gender, age, nationality, program-time of study, academic trimester, grade point average (GPA) , and work experience) to study the differences in their perceptions of Five Key Behaviors contributing to effective teaching (lesson clarity, instructional variety, task orientation, engagement in learning process, and student success). A total of 307 responses consisting of 131 MBA Day program and 176 MBA Evening program students were collected. The responses ranked important teaching characteristics as student success, lesson clarity, task orientation, instructional variety, and engagement in learning process, respectively. Through Independent T-Test analysis and ANOVA, it was found that age, GPA, and work experience showed no difference in students 'perceptions of effective teaching characteristics. On the other hand, gender, nationality, program-time of study, and academic trimester showed significant differences in students 'perceptions of effective teaching characteristics.

    An exploratory study on students' academic engagement activities
    Since student engagement in academic activities is generally considered a qualified predictor of learning and personal development, this exploratory research study was conducted to find a tool to objectively measure students' academic engagement activities. The main constructs of the tool named the "Student academic report questionnaire, " were firstly replicated frqm the well-known "National Survey of Student Engagement " (NSSE) developed by Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research and Planning, but the details were modified to be congruent with the Thai educational and environmental context. The validity, reliability, and credibility of the tool were examined with the data gathered from two-wave pilot surveys. Factor analysis and reliability analyses were performed, and the results showed high construct validity and internal consistency with an alpha-coefficient of 0.8342- 0.9118. A questionnaire was primarily used to collect data. The initial sets of data on students' academic engagement activities were gathered and analyzed.

    Money management in University students
    This paper investigates the sources of allowance, spending and saving behavior of students. The results show that the majority of the Thai youngsters are dependent, extravagant, having high expenses with little or no savings. The researcher suggests that money management and saving culture should be developed in order to create self and social responsibility among students.

    Business and leisure tourists' perception on selected attributes of Luxury Hotels in Bangkok : a comparative study
    The Travel and Tourism Industry in Bangkok is growing at a steady pace which holds the Hospitality Business in a strong position. In order to understand the customers 'purchase behavior in the hospitality industry, specifically Luxury hotels, it is necessary to know the perception of tourists ' regarding several attributes of luxury hotels that create value. Different guests see value in a different light depending on their purpose of travel. The main purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the perception of business tourists and leisure tourists toward the selected attributes of luxury hotels in Bangkok. The related attributes were brand name and reputation, physical property, guestroom design and amenities, bathroom fixture and amenities, functional service, interpersonal service, food and beverage related services and quality standards. The respondents of this study were Business and Leisure tourists who had stayed in selected luxury hotels in Bangkok. A total of 400 valid questionnaires were obtained by sample survey. It was found that there was no significant difference between business and leisure tourists in their perception of interpersonal services and food and beverage related services of luxury hotels in Bangkok. There were significant differences between business and leisure tourists 'in their perception of brand name and reputation, physical property, guestroom design and amenities, bathroom fixture and amenities, functional service and quality standards.
