ItemA needs assessment of communication and employee performance: a case study of PKK auto Partnership Limited, Thailand(Bangkok : Assumption University, 2022) Thanthicha Phachirananwanich ; Fernando, Maria Socorro C. L.Both company communication and employee performance play an increasingly essential role in many organizations throughout the world. Many companies are struggling to enhance better company communication and employee performance through training and career development because these can lead to the good image of organization and the effectiveness of entire organizational performance. This research intended to discover the priority needs for the improvement in terms of the forms of communication, company communication, and employee performance by using the case study of PKK Auto Partnership Limited in Thailand. There are two major research objectives including 1) To determine the current situation and expected situation of the company’s communication and employee performance based on perceptions of employees and customers and 2) To design a training plan based on the results of the research study. To prioritize the needs for enhancing better company communication and employee performance, the quantitative research method using Priority Needs Assessment Modified (PNIModified) was utilized in this research study. The key results based on the quantitative findings were the company communication (PNIModified = 0.1644) sorted as the 1st rank of priority needs index followed by forms of communication (PNIModified = 0.1588) and employee performance (PNIModified = 0.1468), respectively. A training plan was designed based on the results of the study.

ItemA synopsis of the development of a framework of reference for english language education in Thailand (FRELE-TH)The purpose of this article is to address the need for a Framework of Reference for English Language Education in Thailand (FRELE-TH 2017) based on the Common Europe Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR, 2001 2018) which was first introduced and practiced among the European countries. CEFR framework has been adopted into language education systems of the majority of Asian countries as well as other parts of the world. As English is the working language of the ASEAN Economic Community people can cross borders to fulfil their social, economic and educational needs. However many Thais do not have the proficiency in English to compete in terms of English, thus hindering their mobility within the ASEAN context. By looking at the basic principles that would benefit the English language teaching and learning in Thailand using FRELE-TH and understanding the difficulties when adopting and modifying CEFR ‘CAN Do’ approach might be a more realistic solution to improving the standard of English in the Thai education system.

ItemAdopting a blended learning approach for teaching Chinese classical danceThe main purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the blended Chinese classical dance course in improving the dance performance of dance students at the College of Art and Design at Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology, China. Opinions of students regarding their learning experiences in the blended learning environment were also obtained through a face-to-face interview. This research utilized a mixed methodology design. The quantitative part was the quasi-experiment to determine if the Chinese classical dance performance of students would improve after using the China Dance Network Application in a blended learning environment. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. The participants selected had not used China Dance Network Application before. There were four freshmen, two sophomores and five juniors who participated in the quasi-experiment. It was conducted for eight weeks to determine the effectiveness of the blended dance course. Before the quasi-experiment, participants took the pre-test and after eight weeks were completed, the participants took the post-test. Pre-test and post-test scores were compared and analyzed using the paired t-test. The qualitative part involved a face-to-face interview with all 11 participants. Results of the paired t-test showed that there were significant differences in the pre-test and post-test scores of the participants in terms of body rhyme, soft opening, dancing posture, rhythm style, and expressive force. Based on the interviews with 11 participants, they admitted that their dance performance had improved, the use of China Dance Network helped them in learning more about Chinese classical dance and they were more motivated in learning dance online and offline anytime. They used the Chinese Dance Network to learn dancing online, broadening their horizons, watching many dance videos, and learning more contents. The interviewees also added that compared with a single traditional classroom teaching, their interest in learning was stimulated.

ItemAn application of video recording technology to enhance the key leader engagement performance at SWCSIn this study, video recording technology was introduced into a classroom of military students to enhance Key Leader Engagement (KLE) performance. The main objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using video recording technology in improving the students' level of performance in the Special Forces Warrant Officer Technical and Tactical Certification at the U.S. Army Special Warfare Center and School. All students were required to participate in several practical exercises that were designed to give each student practice at participating in a KLE. For all students, each iteration of the KLE practical exercises was video recorded and scored. A quasi-experimental study using the video recording technology was used to collect data on each student's Key Leader Engagement performance. This research also incorporated a qualitative survey to determine the students' perspectives concerning the use and effectiveness of the video recording technology during KLE training. Data from the quasi- experiment was analyzed using a paired t-test. Results revealed that the use of the video recording technology made a positively significant difference from one performance of the KLE to the next, demonstrating that video recording technology employment in improving students' level of performance between iterations of KLEs was effective. The survey results show that majority of the participants think that the use of the SPOTLITE video recording technology during the After Action Review (AAR)/Counseling session helped them to become aware of their actions during each Key Leader Engagement (KLE), that the use of the SPOTLITE video recording technology during the After Action Review (AAR)/Counseling session helped them to improve their skills during a Key Leader Engagement (KLE), and that the SPOTLITE video recording technology was used correctly/effectively.

ItemApplications of artificial intelligence for strategic management of organisationArtificial intelligence (AI) is a new tool for organisational and strategic development which has not much been investigated. Therefore, this research investigates perceptions of strategic management experts about the future of Artificial Intelligence and its usage in strategic management. To achieve the research objective, a survey of strategic management specialists, including organisational strategy managers, consultants and academics (n = 231) was conducted. The research used the modified unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model to investigate the factors that could contribute to an adoption of AI in the strategic management process of organisation. Within this model, situational factors include technological capability and organisational culture. The study showed all relationships of variables within the model were significant. The strongest effect on adoption intention was from technological readiness, while the effect of performance expectancy and effort expectancy was fully mediated. Furthermore, organisational culture had a significant effect on the adoption intention. The implication of these findings is that there is a need to consider utility and ethics of AI implementation for strategic management. There were several limitations of the study, including geographic focus and inclusion of specific adoption factors. In addition, more research is needed to examine AI adoption for strategic management.

ItemAssessing employees’ belongingness for long-term sustainability of the company:a case of G Company, Bangkok, Thailand( 2020) Luo, Yijun ; Barnes, John ArthurEmployees’ belongingness is related to the long-term sustainability of the company and determines the core competitive talent advantage of the company. However, many companies, especially small-medium enterprises in Bangkok, have been plagued by the weak Employees’ belongingness and high employees’ turnover. This study examined the influencing factors on Compensation&Benefits, company culture, professional training, and career development four aspects of employees’ belongingness in G company Bangkok, Thailand. The objectives of this study are first to conduct an assessment of the employee’s belongingness. Second, to propose an improvement plan to enhance employees’ belongingness for G company. This study employed a structured questionnaire comprises of 25 questions. The total actual participant respondents were 48. The researcher used descriptive statistics for demographic data and multiple regression analysis to test the relationship between Compensation&Benefits, company culture, professional training, career development, and employees’ belongingness. The finding of this paper indicated that there a positively strong relationship between Compensation&Benefits, company culture and employees’ belongingness based on the data obtained from the survey, the researcher proposed an employees’ belongingness improvement plan for G Company.

ItemAssessment framework for next–level leadership role readiness in retail middle managementThe objective of this study was to propose a next-level-leadership-role-readiness assessment framework for use in retail management. A qualitative-participatory approach was used for the research, with data collected using appreciative-inquiry-based interviews with middle managers in the retail industry (n = 20) and analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The findings identified eight core competencies: strategic implementation, time management, people development, professional proficiency, entrepreneurship, commitment, change management, and innovation. These core competencies were drawn from the content analysis inter-coding and reviewed by the experts to develop a drafted framework for next-level leadership role readiness assessment. The draft framework includes competencies, other factors to be measured, a recommended implementation approach, and an approach for integrating the leadership role readiness assessment into the career development path of managers within the organization. The study focused on retail middle manager level based in Thailand. The results provide practical insights into how organizations can assess leadership readiness in a consistent and standardized way, offering a significant benefit. Further opportunities for research include implementing and testing the drafted framework and extending it to other organizational levels.

ItemA blended learning design to improve non-music students' knowledge of Chinese Traditional Music in Hunan Agriculture UniversityThis study is a quasi-experiment research. The aims of the study are to determine if the blended Chinese Traditional Music Appreciation Course using Superstar Learning Application improves the Chinese traditional music knowledge of non-music majors and to explore the students’ opinions towards the use of Superstar Learning Application as a teaching and learning tool in a blended Chinese Traditional Music Appreciation Course. The research site is at Hunan Agriculture University, China, involving freshmen students taking the Chinese Traditional Music Appreciation Course. The study used a mixed methodology design. The Pre-test and post-test were administered to determine the effectiveness of the blended learning course. An in-depth interview was also conducted to explore the opinions of volunteer participants about the blended Chinese Traditional Music Appreciation Course and the application used. Comparison of the pre-test and post-test scores showed that the Chinese traditional music knowledge of non-music major students improved after learning in the blended Chinese Traditional Music Course. Students who volunteered to be interviewed showed positive opinions towards the blended learning course and the Superstar Learning Application as a teaching and learning tool.

ItemCreative problem-solving in countries east and west: some organizational implications( 2019) Clapp, Ray ; Vorapot RuckthumCreativity and creative problem-solving are supported by two different cognitive styles, one concerned with adaption (doing things better), and the other with innovation (doing things differently). The current preoccupation with innovation would appear to favour western countries where a more innovative cultural bias exists. Furthermore, countries from the East would appear disadvantaged due to a similar bias towards adaption. However, organisations to sustain success need a diversity of style irrespective of the significance of any social or organisational leadership bias towards a single style. The pursuit of a dominant single style, be it adaption or innovation, leads to a diminishing organisational performance albeit by different routes.

ItemThe cross-cultural use of the Kirton adaption-innovation inventory: a further exploration( 2017) Clapp, Ray ; Vorapot RuckthumEnglish language measures such as the bipolar scale of cognitive style (Kirton, 2005) are not easily understood by people within diverse cultures and languages where English is spoken as a second language. Particularly the scoring of opposites when many items represent each end of the dimensional continuum and where items that represent one of the poles are reverse scored to produce the final score. Understanding can be improved by using a translation of item meaning into the target language. However, a more efficient method is the use of items with bipolar scoring scales to resolve the problem of accurate recognition and scoring of opposites while at the same time eliminating the scoring anchor and any associated social desirability contamination.

ItemDesigning a framework and strategies to enhance individual innovative work behavior: a case of a non-profit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia( 2021) Seng, Sonika ; Fernando, Maria Socorro C. L.Innovation has become such a big part of our everyday life that everywhere we go, whatever we do, we tend to seek something new, whether these are new ideas, new experiences, new products, new places, or new technologies. For organizations in highly competitive environments, innovation ensures sustainability and competitive advantage. However, innovativeness comes from the organization's people, so innovative work behavior has rapidly become a significant factor for organizations to explore and establish. This research assesses the needs of five factors that enhance individual innovative work behavior in Pact Cambodia: job resourcefulness, work empowerment, employee motivation, leader-member exchange (LMX), and work engagement. A mixed research methodology was used, and the respondents included the population in the non-profit organization. All 25 employees responded to the survey questionnaire for quantitative research, whereas eight key employees were selected to participate in a focus group discussion. The quantitative data were analyzed using Cronbach's Alpha testing, descriptive analysis, and Priority needs index modified (PNImod). The qualitative data were analyzed using the inter-coding method. The results from PNIMod show that work empowerment, employee motivation, leader-member exchange, and innovative work behavior are the four factors that must be prioritized. The interview questionnaire used appreciative inquiry (AI) questions to further explore work engagement and innovative work behavior. Based on the overall results, the current situation of innovative work behavior is favorable, but PNIModified suggested that some factors should be prioritized to enhance individual innovative work behavior. Therefore, a framework and strategies are presented based on all data results.

ItemDesigning a prototype coaching model based on emotional intelligence and job performance: a case study of global technology group company, Myanmar( 2021) Hlaing, Min Swe ; Fernando, Maria Socorro C. L.This research investigates the influence of emotional intelligence domains on job performance. The questionnaire is based on Emotional Intelligence's four domains as independent variables, namely: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management, and the dependent variable is job performance. Quantitative data using a questionnaire was gathered from a sample of 70 employees in the management, middle management, and supervisor levels working in Global Technology Group Company (GTG). Qualitative data was gathered from interviews of 12 employees. The results of the interview showed that employees recognize and control the positive outcome, Emotional intelligence helps motivation and career improvement, positive emotions keep a clear mind, understand well, and manage effectively, self-evaluation, listening to comments from coworkers, and observing how to treat them, job satisfaction in the relationship and job performance and target job accomplishment and work satisfaction on respective tasks. Moreover, the quantitative data results showed that self-management and relationship management's emotional intelligence domains influence job performance. The study recommends a coaching model that can be utilized to support self-awareness and relationship management for effective job performance.

ItemDesigning interventions to enhance employee engagement among administrative employees at Heilongjiang International UniversityWith the rapid development of economy and increasingly fierce market competition, higher education institutions are also facing the increasingly complex environment. Employee engagement, as one of the important concepts of human resources, has emerged as a critical success factor in today's competitive marketplace. The purpose of this research is to determine the influential factors affecting employee engagement in order to design interventions for enhancing employee engagement. The study was conducted at a higher education institution—Heilongjiang International University (HIU), a private university established in 1993. The administrative employees were chosen as the research targets to answer the questionnaire and participate in the interview. Mixed methods of quantitative and qualitative were used in this research. The multiple linear regression was applied as the analytical tool for investigating the influence of independent variables on dependent variables. Content analysis was used as the tool to analyze the qualitative data to validate the statistical analysis. From the results four out of five hypotheses are supported by the data analysis, which indicate that factors including career growth, coworker support, supervisor support and performance feedback have significant influence on employee engagement. Interventions are designed accordingly to improve employee engagement based on the results. The findings can provide both theoretical and practical value in the field of higher education organization management.

ItemDesigning job stress management strategies for primary school teachersThis study focuses on the factors that influence the work stress of primary school teachers and recommends strategies to relieve the work stress. In this study, 294 primary school teachers in the Tianfu New Area in Sichuan China were surveyed using an online questionnaire. The quantitative results of descriptive and inferential statistical analysis show that ambiguity of role, workload, lack of autonomy and relationship with others have significant influence on primary school teachers' work stress. Based on the results of this study strategies for organizations and individuals to deal with teachers' stress were recommended.

ItemDesigning strength based work life balance strategies to enhance service quality: a case study of S.R. Residence Hotel Phetchabun, ThailandNowadays, every service business must compete with the customer satisfaction for their reputation and success in business. To obtain more competitive advantage and better performance on employees service quality. A company tries to focus on the development of personal work life balance (attitude) and motivation to let employees achieving their task successfully. This research study focuses on employees service quality based on service quality theory. Tangibles – physical facilities, equipment, staff appearance, etc. ,Reliability – ability to perform service dependably and accurately, Responsiveness – willingness to help and respond to customer needs, Assurance – ability of staff to inspire confidence and trust, Empathy – the extent to which caring individualized service is given. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of work life balance strategies on service quality at the S.R. Residence Hotel, Phetchabun, Thailand. The researcher had conducted mix method research by questionnaires (quantitative) and focus group interviews (qualitative) by using appreciative inquiry (AI) to determined strength-based work life balance on service quality. The questionnaires were distributed to a sample of 60 employees and 40 customers at the S.R. Residence Hotel. The Focus Group interview consisted of 4 group representatives from employees which are Top management, Manager, Low Experience and High Experience employees respectively. The quantitative data was analyzed by using Descriptive mean and standard deviation, Pearson Correlation, Multiple Linear Regression from SPSS to examine and determine the initial impact of work life balance on enhancing service quality at the hotel and qualitative data are using Index of Item Objective Congruence (IOC) with inter coding methods on focus group interview answer to find out the common theme for each questions. The discussion from the research study will develop employee service quality at the S.R. Residence Hotel in the future.

ItemDeterminants affecting willingness of office workers to use coffee houses services in Bangkok during COVID-19 outbreakThe purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants influencing the willingness of office workers to use coffee houses services in Silom and Sathorn areas in Bangkok during the COVID-19 outbreak. The conceptual framework presented comprises variety seeking, desire for unique products, cosmopolitanism, personal innovativeness, product evaluation, behavioral intention impact willingness to use coffee house services. The sample (n = 490) was gathered from online questionnaires using convenience and snowball sampling techniques. The study employed the Structural Equation Model (SEM) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) for the data analysis to confirm reliability, validity, goodness-of-fit of the model, and hypotheses. The findings revealed that variety seeking and personal innovativeness significantly impacted product evaluation and behavioral intention. In contrast, the desire for unique products and cosmopolitanism had no impact on product evaluation and behavioral intention. In addition, both product evaluation and behavioral intention also had a significant impact on the willingness to use coffee house services. Therefore, for practical implications, business owners and entrepreneurs could enhance product varieties to attract more customers for better sales revenue generation.

ItemDeterminants for open innovation and innovation performance towards value creation and organization performance for bureaucratic personnel developmentThe purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of open innovation and innovation performance toward value creation, and organizational performance for bureaucratic personnel development in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The conceptual framework of this study is adapted from the theoretical study of open innovation, and previous studies open innovation, innovation performance, value creation, and organizational performance. The samples (n = 179) were collected using the stratified and cluster sampling methods via offline and online questionnaires. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) were used to confirm the goodness of fit model and test the hypotheses. According to the research results, the determinants for open innovation and innovation performance have a significant impact on value creation and organizational performance. As a result, there are no significant differences in the regression paths of each factor, and open innovation is clearly the most powerful predictor of organizational performance. In conclusion, the study suggests that open innovation determinants such as technological advances or IT through value creation, including innovation performance, can support organizational performance.

ItemDetermining the influence of motivation and job satisfaction towards job performance of generation Y+Z employees of the RARE Company, ChinaThe purpose of the study was to determine the effect of intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors and job satisfaction on job performance of the employees in the RARE Company in China in response to recommended plans on enhancing their motivation for higher company's performance. Quantitative data got accumulated from 55 operational-level officers working at the RARE Company through questionnaires. The results of the data were analyzed by using mean score, multiple and simple linear regression, along with oneway ANOVA. The results of the study show that intrinsic factors, including career plan, training, target incentive, teamwork has a significant effect on employees' satisfaction. In contrast, employees' satisfaction has a significant effect on job performance for the RARE company in China, so the management and human resources departments of the RARE Company should give priority to intrinsic motivation and job satisfaction so that employees at different levels in the company have a higher motivation to improve their job performance, which is beneficial to the long-term improvement of organizational performance.

ItemDeveloping student leadership readiness, core leadership skills to enhance student engagement through organization development intervention: action research at Zhejiang Yuexiu University of foreign languages in Zhejiang Province, The people’s republic of China( 2021) Li, Bing ; Kim, SeongdokStudent leadership development has captured increasing concern in the field of education. Leadership plays an integral part in the fulfillment of 21st-century skills, namely, career and life skills,toadapt to the changing circumstancesand the need to cultivate talent. The present action research aimed to utilize effective OD interventions to develop students’leadership readiness and core leadership skills to enhance student engagement in campus-basedextracurricular activities in a privateuniversity in China. The action research was conducted in three stages:Pre-ODI, ODI, and post-ODI, starting with diagnosing problems in student leadership, followed by planning, intervening, assessing, and reinforcing. For the eight-month OD intervention, the sample consisted of80 freshmen randomly selected from the student organization. They werecategorizedinto two groups: an experimental group with ODIs and a control group without ODIs. Data werecollected by survey questionnaires,one-to-oneinterviews, andfocusgroupinterviews, using qualitative and quantitative research methodology.Results of the Paired Sample T-Test proved that there were statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group after ODIs. Students reported significant gains in leadership readiness and core leadership skills. Therewas a causal relationship among leadership readiness, core leadership skills, and student engagement. The results of the research suggest that purposeful leadership programs should be promoted in the form of offline and online extracurricular activities to cultivate leadership competency beginning with inward leadership and manifesting in outward leadership.

ItemDevelopment of e-readiness scale in blended learning in filmmaking program for a private university in Bangladesh–initial stageAlthough the Government of Bangladesh is pressuring all educational institutions to go online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the higher educational institutes are finding it difficult to adjust to the new situation. While they have begun discussing the importance of online and blended learning, they are still waiting to return to face-to-face class once the pandemic is over. This is because they are still unprepared to embrace e-learning. This study aims to develop a unified scale to assess the higher education institute's e-readiness in Bangladesh to identify their strengths and weaknesses and formulate a plan for creating an e-learning environment. The findings of this study are based on a quantitative survey, and the study was completed using a sample size of 410 contributors 345 (84.1%) students, 34 (8.3%) teachers, and 31 (7.6%) administrators from the University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh, a private university in Dhaka. Three separate assessment instruments were developed for the key stakeholdes: students, teachers, and administrators. A systematic approach was used to create the institutional e-readiness scale with acceptable validity and reliability. The Scale-level Content Validity Index of the Averaging calculation method (S-CVI/Ave) value was 0.996, and the instruments' reliability coefficient Cronbach's Alpha was 0.949 (students), 0.935 (teachers), and 0.837 (administrators). The alpha values suggest the compiled instruments are good to excellent. This study indicates that the institutional e-readiness scale could assess the e-readiness of other universities in Bangladesh.
