ItemA needs assessment of communication and employee performance: a case study of PKK auto Partnership Limited, Thailand(Bangkok : Assumption University, 2022) Thanthicha Phachirananwanich ; Fernando, Maria Socorro C. L.Both company communication and employee performance play an increasingly essential role in many organizations throughout the world. Many companies are struggling to enhance better company communication and employee performance through training and career development because these can lead to the good image of organization and the effectiveness of entire organizational performance. This research intended to discover the priority needs for the improvement in terms of the forms of communication, company communication, and employee performance by using the case study of PKK Auto Partnership Limited in Thailand. There are two major research objectives including 1) To determine the current situation and expected situation of the company’s communication and employee performance based on perceptions of employees and customers and 2) To design a training plan based on the results of the research study. To prioritize the needs for enhancing better company communication and employee performance, the quantitative research method using Priority Needs Assessment Modified (PNIModified) was utilized in this research study. The key results based on the quantitative findings were the company communication (PNIModified = 0.1644) sorted as the 1st rank of priority needs index followed by forms of communication (PNIModified = 0.1588) and employee performance (PNIModified = 0.1468), respectively. A training plan was designed based on the results of the study.

ItemA proposed enhancement initiative for employee engagement, organizational resiliency, and organizational sustainability: a case of the center for diversity and National Harmony (CDNH) Myanmar(Bangkok : Assumption University, 2023) Naing, Nyi Nyi ; Sirichai Preudhikulpradab ; Barnes, John ArthurThis mixed-method research has three objectives: 1) examine the current condition of employee engagement, organizational resiliency, and organizational sustainability of all employees' levels and rank the priority needs; 2) explore interviewees’ perceptions of how to enhance employee engagement, organizational resiliency, and sustainability. 3). develop an initial proposal for enhancement initiative, organizational resiliency, and sustainability at CDNH. The instruments employed included: a\structured questionnaire (N=90) and an in-depth interview (N=10). The target populations comprise all employees, middle-level management, and top-level management, the purposive sampling method. The data analysis treatments include descriptive statistics and PNI Modified for the structured questionnaire and contents analysis for the interview. Findings showed that based on the PNI modified, Employee Engagement (PNI Modified =0.345) was ranked as the priority need for organizational sustainability in the Center for Diversity and National Harmony, Organizational Resilience (PNI Modified = 0.334) was ranked as the second priority need level, the Organization Sustainability (PNI Modified = 0.249) was ranked the third. The recommendations are that the CDNH organization focuses on the three main competencies factors to develop enhancement initiatives for employee engagement, organizational resiliency, and organizational sustainability. Lastly, the data obtained from the questionnaire and open-response questions were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and content analysis. According to the content analysis inter-coding, social harmony, stakeholder engagement, and accountability and transparency had been mentioned among 10 informants that could be improved for employee engagement, organizational resilience, and organization sustainability. Additionally, the key informants believe that team building, creating a good working environment, and staff capacity building are factored in developing these three areas. As there are many levels and employees within the organization at the same time, it might not be unity. Moreover, allocating their workplace without creating or supporting a good working environment was discussed among 10 key informants. Lastly, the informants believe that building staff capacity was considered a critical need for employees according to their tasks and responsibility. For further studies, to identify conducting research focused on stakeholders' engagement and working conditions, as well as employees' satisfaction in the Center for Diversity and National Harmony.

ItemA synopsis of the development of a framework of reference for english language education in Thailand (FRELE-TH)The purpose of this article is to address the need for a Framework of Reference for English Language Education in Thailand (FRELE-TH 2017) based on the Common Europe Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR, 2001 2018) which was first introduced and practiced among the European countries. CEFR framework has been adopted into language education systems of the majority of Asian countries as well as other parts of the world. As English is the working language of the ASEAN Economic Community people can cross borders to fulfil their social, economic and educational needs. However many Thais do not have the proficiency in English to compete in terms of English, thus hindering their mobility within the ASEAN context. By looking at the basic principles that would benefit the English language teaching and learning in Thailand using FRELE-TH and understanding the difficulties when adopting and modifying CEFR ‘CAN Do’ approach might be a more realistic solution to improving the standard of English in the Thai education system.

ItemAdopting a blended learning approach for teaching Chinese classical danceThe main purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the blended Chinese classical dance course in improving the dance performance of dance students at the College of Art and Design at Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology, China. Opinions of students regarding their learning experiences in the blended learning environment were also obtained through a face-to-face interview. This research utilized a mixed methodology design. The quantitative part was the quasi-experiment to determine if the Chinese classical dance performance of students would improve after using the China Dance Network Application in a blended learning environment. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. The participants selected had not used China Dance Network Application before. There were four freshmen, two sophomores and five juniors who participated in the quasi-experiment. It was conducted for eight weeks to determine the effectiveness of the blended dance course. Before the quasi-experiment, participants took the pre-test and after eight weeks were completed, the participants took the post-test. Pre-test and post-test scores were compared and analyzed using the paired t-test. The qualitative part involved a face-to-face interview with all 11 participants. Results of the paired t-test showed that there were significant differences in the pre-test and post-test scores of the participants in terms of body rhyme, soft opening, dancing posture, rhythm style, and expressive force. Based on the interviews with 11 participants, they admitted that their dance performance had improved, the use of China Dance Network helped them in learning more about Chinese classical dance and they were more motivated in learning dance online and offline anytime. They used the Chinese Dance Network to learn dancing online, broadening their horizons, watching many dance videos, and learning more contents. The interviewees also added that compared with a single traditional classroom teaching, their interest in learning was stimulated.

ItemAn empirical study on data reuse intention among social science researchers in Chengdu, Sichuan province, ChinaThis study investigates the influencing factors of social science researchers’ intention to reuse data in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. The conceptual framework includes information quality, service quality, subjective norms, data repository, perceived effort, and intention to reuse data. The researchers conducted a quantitative method to distribute the online questionnaire to 500 social science researchers. The sample techniques were purposive, quota, and convenience sampling. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) were used to analyze the data and examine the research hypotheses. The findings show that information quality, service quality, subjective norms, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and attitudes to data reuse significantly impact social science researchers’ intention to reuse data. In contrast, data repository has no significant impact on social science researchers’ intention to reuse data influences. It can effectively support the cycle between data sharing and reuse in the humanities and social sciences to promote the formation of ecology and provide references and suggestions for data management in this field.

ItemAn exploration of problem-solving style through the lens of psychological climate, cognitive style and idea style measuresThere is a growing interest in a more inclusive conception of the activity of the ‘change process’ (person, product, process and press) particularly the aspects of the creative sub-process concerned with person and product. The variables Cognitive style and Idea style, have a common heritage that is rooted in a dichotomy concerned at one end with ‘adaption’ (improvements) while at the other end with ‘innovation’ (novelty). These characteristics have been used to describe the ‘creative concept’ where to date the emphasis has been on the pole concerned with ‘innovation continuum’. The pole is hence also concerned with adaption, but while the pole being a necessary and central aspect of both variables has nevertheless received relatively little attention. In this study, the primary objective was therefore to evaluate the coherence of Kirton’s ‘cognitive style’ measure of adaptive – innovative behavioural preferences with the measures of Idea styles. Therefore, another related objective was to evaluate the relationship between the cognitive style and ‘psychological climate’, consisting of ideas generated and problems identified as sub-components. The results show the ‘innovative pole’ of cognitive style is significantly related to both innovative idea style and the quantity of ideas generated (it is also explicitly supported by the facets of the personality variable ‘openness’). However, while a negative relationship between cognitive style and the adaptive style of ideas is a central aspect of Kirton’s cognitive style theory, no significant negative relationship was found. Instead, the adaptive style of ideas has a positive relationship to a factor within the measure of psychological climate or ‘the opportunity to contribute to change’. These findings position Kirton’s cognitive style measure as primarily in the domain of ‘personality’ and only partially coherent with the domain of ‘idea style’ the latter a carrier, rather than ‘a component of style’. Furthermore, while the variables of cognitive style and psychological climate show no significant relationship, they provide differential support to the ‘first two stages’ of the change process.

ItemAn application of video recording technology to enhance the key leader engagement performance at SWCSIn this study, video recording technology was introduced into a classroom of military students to enhance Key Leader Engagement (KLE) performance. The main objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using video recording technology in improving the students' level of performance in the Special Forces Warrant Officer Technical and Tactical Certification at the U.S. Army Special Warfare Center and School. All students were required to participate in several practical exercises that were designed to give each student practice at participating in a KLE. For all students, each iteration of the KLE practical exercises was video recorded and scored. A quasi-experimental study using the video recording technology was used to collect data on each student's Key Leader Engagement performance. This research also incorporated a qualitative survey to determine the students' perspectives concerning the use and effectiveness of the video recording technology during KLE training. Data from the quasi- experiment was analyzed using a paired t-test. Results revealed that the use of the video recording technology made a positively significant difference from one performance of the KLE to the next, demonstrating that video recording technology employment in improving students' level of performance between iterations of KLEs was effective. The survey results show that majority of the participants think that the use of the SPOTLITE video recording technology during the After Action Review (AAR)/Counseling session helped them to become aware of their actions during each Key Leader Engagement (KLE), that the use of the SPOTLITE video recording technology during the After Action Review (AAR)/Counseling session helped them to improve their skills during a Key Leader Engagement (KLE), and that the SPOTLITE video recording technology was used correctly/effectively.

ItemApplications of artificial intelligence for strategic management of organisationArtificial intelligence (AI) is a new tool for organisational and strategic development which has not much been investigated. Therefore, this research investigates perceptions of strategic management experts about the future of Artificial Intelligence and its usage in strategic management. To achieve the research objective, a survey of strategic management specialists, including organisational strategy managers, consultants and academics (n = 231) was conducted. The research used the modified unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model to investigate the factors that could contribute to an adoption of AI in the strategic management process of organisation. Within this model, situational factors include technological capability and organisational culture. The study showed all relationships of variables within the model were significant. The strongest effect on adoption intention was from technological readiness, while the effect of performance expectancy and effort expectancy was fully mediated. Furthermore, organisational culture had a significant effect on the adoption intention. The implication of these findings is that there is a need to consider utility and ethics of AI implementation for strategic management. There were several limitations of the study, including geographic focus and inclusion of specific adoption factors. In addition, more research is needed to examine AI adoption for strategic management.

ItemArt design major undergraduate's satisfaction towards online education: a case of public universities in Sichuan, ChinaThe paper aims to evaluate the essential determinants that have a significant effect on satisfaction for online education of art design major undergraduate students from four public universities in the Sichuan Province of China. Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), Perceived Usefulness (PU), Attitude (ATT), Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy (EE), Social Influence (SI) and Satisfaction (SAT) were all investigated to determine if these constructs influence satisfaction of students with online education. The researcher applied a quantitative exploration approach with 487 samples and distributed the quantitative questionnaire to art design major undergraduates at four target universities. The multistage sampling approach was utilized in this survey. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) were utilized to determine the relationships of the variables under study. The entire hypotheses were supported by the results of the data analysis, in which social influence indicated the most powerful direct effect on satisfaction. For students to acknowledge and recognize the effectiveness of online education, university administrators and teaching staffs should pay sufficient attention to the factors which has generated significant influence on the satisfaction of the instruction, and consider the correlated teaching adjust or reform in the future according to the findings of this research.

ItemAssessing employees’ belongingness for long-term sustainability of the company:a case of G Company, Bangkok, Thailand( 2020) Luo, Yijun ; Barnes, John ArthurEmployees’ belongingness is related to the long-term sustainability of the company and determines the core competitive talent advantage of the company. However, many companies, especially small-medium enterprises in Bangkok, have been plagued by the weak Employees’ belongingness and high employees’ turnover. This study examined the influencing factors on Compensation&Benefits, company culture, professional training, and career development four aspects of employees’ belongingness in G company Bangkok, Thailand. The objectives of this study are first to conduct an assessment of the employee’s belongingness. Second, to propose an improvement plan to enhance employees’ belongingness for G company. This study employed a structured questionnaire comprises of 25 questions. The total actual participant respondents were 48. The researcher used descriptive statistics for demographic data and multiple regression analysis to test the relationship between Compensation&Benefits, company culture, professional training, career development, and employees’ belongingness. The finding of this paper indicated that there a positively strong relationship between Compensation&Benefits, company culture and employees’ belongingness based on the data obtained from the survey, the researcher proposed an employees’ belongingness improvement plan for G Company.

ItemAssessment framework for next–level leadership role readiness in retail middle managementThe objective of this study was to propose a next-level-leadership-role-readiness assessment framework for use in retail management. A qualitative-participatory approach was used for the research, with data collected using appreciative-inquiry-based interviews with middle managers in the retail industry (n = 20) and analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The findings identified eight core competencies: strategic implementation, time management, people development, professional proficiency, entrepreneurship, commitment, change management, and innovation. These core competencies were drawn from the content analysis inter-coding and reviewed by the experts to develop a drafted framework for next-level leadership role readiness assessment. The draft framework includes competencies, other factors to be measured, a recommended implementation approach, and an approach for integrating the leadership role readiness assessment into the career development path of managers within the organization. The study focused on retail middle manager level based in Thailand. The results provide practical insights into how organizations can assess leadership readiness in a consistent and standardized way, offering a significant benefit. Further opportunities for research include implementing and testing the drafted framework and extending it to other organizational levels.

ItemA blended learning design to improve non-music students' knowledge of Chinese Traditional Music in Hunan Agriculture UniversityThis study is a quasi-experiment research. The aims of the study are to determine if the blended Chinese Traditional Music Appreciation Course using Superstar Learning Application improves the Chinese traditional music knowledge of non-music majors and to explore the students’ opinions towards the use of Superstar Learning Application as a teaching and learning tool in a blended Chinese Traditional Music Appreciation Course. The research site is at Hunan Agriculture University, China, involving freshmen students taking the Chinese Traditional Music Appreciation Course. The study used a mixed methodology design. The Pre-test and post-test were administered to determine the effectiveness of the blended learning course. An in-depth interview was also conducted to explore the opinions of volunteer participants about the blended Chinese Traditional Music Appreciation Course and the application used. Comparison of the pre-test and post-test scores showed that the Chinese traditional music knowledge of non-music major students improved after learning in the blended Chinese Traditional Music Course. Students who volunteered to be interviewed showed positive opinions towards the blended learning course and the Superstar Learning Application as a teaching and learning tool.

ItemCoaching to enhance Thai forensic police officer's self-efficacy, meaningful work, and job crafting: a case study of the office of police forensic scienceFor the past two decades, forensic science has been playing essential role in criminal investigation in Thailand. It has been praised as a game changer for criminal justice. The work of Thai forensic police officers has profoundly altered how police investigated crimes since it can provide evidence for answering crucial questions like Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How? more objectively and expeditiously among other available tools. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the behind-the-scenes type of work, Thai forensic police officers perceive themselves as just scientists working in some backroom laboratory who has no real influence nor decision making power in the overall investigation process. Thus, this study aims to explore these issues in the hope of enhancing the Thai forensic police officers’ (FPO) self-efficacy (SE), meaningful work (MW), and job crafting (JC). The study applied self-efficacy theory, meaning in work based on job characteristics theory and job crafting model as the theoretical framework. Three hypotheses were derived to evaluate significant difference between Pre-ODI and Post-ODI based on self-efficacy, meaningful work, and job crafting. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected and used for analysis. They were obtained from 30 forensic police officers from eight different functions stationed in ten provinces using stratified sampling technique. Organization development interventions (ODI) were executed over the period of two months using individual coaching techniques, and questionnaires and interviews as instruments. Reflexive thematic analysis paired samples t-test, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were chosen to analyze the data. Findings revealed that self-efficacy and meaningful work showed significant differences after the coaching intervention, whereas job crafting failed to exhibit any statistical significance.

ItemCreative problem-solving in countries east and west: some organizational implications( 2019) Clapp, Ray ; Vorapot RuckthumCreativity and creative problem-solving are supported by two different cognitive styles, one concerned with adaption (doing things better), and the other with innovation (doing things differently). The current preoccupation with innovation would appear to favour western countries where a more innovative cultural bias exists. Furthermore, countries from the East would appear disadvantaged due to a similar bias towards adaption. However, organisations to sustain success need a diversity of style irrespective of the significance of any social or organisational leadership bias towards a single style. The pursuit of a dominant single style, be it adaption or innovation, leads to a diminishing organisational performance albeit by different routes.

ItemThe cross-cultural use of the Kirton adaption-innovation inventory: a further exploration( 2017) Clapp, Ray ; Vorapot RuckthumEnglish language measures such as the bipolar scale of cognitive style (Kirton, 2005) are not easily understood by people within diverse cultures and languages where English is spoken as a second language. Particularly the scoring of opposites when many items represent each end of the dimensional continuum and where items that represent one of the poles are reverse scored to produce the final score. Understanding can be improved by using a translation of item meaning into the target language. However, a more efficient method is the use of items with bipolar scoring scales to resolve the problem of accurate recognition and scoring of opposites while at the same time eliminating the scoring anchor and any associated social desirability contamination.

ItemCultivating cultural intelligence (CQ) through experiential learning-based english instruction at Beijing polytechnicThe study aims to cultivate students’ cultural intelligence (CQ) through experiential learning-based English instruction. The author used convenience sampling of her 2 teaching classes 53 students as the participants of the study. One class with 26 students was assigned to the experimental group and the other class consisting of 27 students was assigned to the control group. The author used quantitative methods: the Cultural Intelligence Scale (CQS) and a semi-structured interview (20 items) based on the CQS to collect data. The Scale’s creators had done the validity test of the CQS, therefore, the author only did the reliability test of the whole Scale consisting of four parts of the four dimensions of the CQ , and got Cronbach α of 0.886, 0.837,0.742, 0.777, and 0.824 respectively. Data collected from the experimental group were analysed after OD intervention and compared with the control group, which showed that the CQ development of the experimental group was higher than the control group. Since the pre-ODI and post-ODI data of the experimental group was not normally distributed, so the author used Wilcoxon Signed-rank test which required to use median to analyse the data. Since the data was not normally distributed, the author used the mean (average) of the media to compare the increase range of CQ in the experimental and the control class. Data showed that he experiential-learning based English instruction helped cultivate the 4 dimensions of CQ, more in the experimental class than those in the control class.

ItemCultivating student craftsmanship through OD interventions: a case study of the student union at Beijing polytechnicThis research aims to determine whether the organization development interventions (ODI) helped cultivate student craftsmanship in the Student Union. Through the new job design of the Student Union, students enhanced their commitment to their work and became more conscientious. The researcher adopted quasi-experimental design by using qualitative and quantitative methods to conduct the BPI case study. Based on the pre-and post-test design, 24 students in the Student Union from College QC participated as the intervention object, while the 28 students of the control group were from College HK. The quantitative part included survey questionnaires in pre-test and post-test stages, while the qualitative method included interviews. First, the researcher applied the Shapiro–Wilk test and found that the data was non-parametric type. Next, the researcher applied the spearman Rank correlation, Wilcoxon signed rank, and Mann-Whitney U tests to test hypotheses based on none parametric situations. After the ODI, all hypotheses’ tests confirmed statistically significant improvement in work engagement, students’ career commitment, and conscientiousness. The qualitative findings also supported that students' career commitment and conscientiousness significantly improved. In conclusion, the findings showed that students’ career commitment and conscientiousness could be improved by enhancing students' work engagement.

ItemDefining the next 2-5 years training & development programs: a case of NBTC ThailandThis qualitative research comprises two objectives: 1. to explore the insights of key informants (e.g., Senior-level officer, Mid-level officer, and officer) on the next 2 – 5 years' training and development programs for NBTC, an d 2. to propose the next 2 – 5 years' training and development programs for NBTC based on the content analysis of the interview passages. The research site is the Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (Office of NBTC) main headquarters in the Phaholyothin Road area. The population is full-time employees of the Office of NBTC, who oversee every cluster of NBTC (Broadcasting Cluster, Administration Cluster, Telecommunications Cluster, Regional Affairs Cluster, and Strategic and Internal Affairs Cluster), while the actual key informants comprise 30 persons. The research instrument employed in this study is in-depth interview questions. The findings from the contents analysis inter-coding process revealed ten themes, consisting of 1) Basic knowledge, 2) Mission and Vision, 3) New Technologies, 4) Working Technique, 5) Term of Reference (TOR), 6) meeting minutes, 7) Online Class, 8) Leadership, 9) Critical thinking, and 10) Systematic thinking & Strategic Planning. The conclusion is that the top three priorities for the next 2-5 years of training & development programs are in the areas of 1) Basic knowledge, 2) Term of Reference (TOR), and 3) Mission and Vision and New Technologies. Recommendations are presented by orders of the officer-level, middle-level, and senior-level roles, with details provided in the following part of this paper

ItemDesigning a framework and strategies to enhance individual innovative work behavior: a case of a non-profit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia( 2021) Seng, Sonika ; Fernando, Maria Socorro C. L.Innovation has become such a big part of our everyday life that everywhere we go, whatever we do, we tend to seek something new, whether these are new ideas, new experiences, new products, new places, or new technologies. For organizations in highly competitive environments, innovation ensures sustainability and competitive advantage. However, innovativeness comes from the organization's people, so innovative work behavior has rapidly become a significant factor for organizations to explore and establish. This research assesses the needs of five factors that enhance individual innovative work behavior in Pact Cambodia: job resourcefulness, work empowerment, employee motivation, leader-member exchange (LMX), and work engagement. A mixed research methodology was used, and the respondents included the population in the non-profit organization. All 25 employees responded to the survey questionnaire for quantitative research, whereas eight key employees were selected to participate in a focus group discussion. The quantitative data were analyzed using Cronbach's Alpha testing, descriptive analysis, and Priority needs index modified (PNImod). The qualitative data were analyzed using the inter-coding method. The results from PNIMod show that work empowerment, employee motivation, leader-member exchange, and innovative work behavior are the four factors that must be prioritized. The interview questionnaire used appreciative inquiry (AI) questions to further explore work engagement and innovative work behavior. Based on the overall results, the current situation of innovative work behavior is favorable, but PNIModified suggested that some factors should be prioritized to enhance individual innovative work behavior. Therefore, a framework and strategies are presented based on all data results.

ItemDesigning a proposed organizational climate model : the case of the workplaces of civil servants, Kingdom of CambodiaThe study has three objectives: (1) to determine the influence of structure, warmth, support, identity and reward on the perceived workplace organizational climate (PWOC); (2) to explore influence of PWOC on job performance; and (3) to design a proposed model for organizational climate (OC) for Cambodian Civil service workplaces based on the findings. A cross-sectional design approach and a quantitative approach were applied in the research study. Structural Equation Model were utilized to conduct statistical analysis and to analyze the relationships between the measured variables, and latent constructs as well as to construct the model. The results indicate that there were four OC factors, such as structure, warmth, support and identity, that provide significant influence on the PWOC at the level of .05. Also, it is found that these four factors show significant and positive impact on job performance as mediated by the PWOC. Then, a proposed OC Model for workplaces of Cambodian civil servants was drawn from the findings of the study. The study recommends further research, taking into account different kinds of organizations including government or non- governmental organizations or private sector institutions, and by applying a mixed-method approach.
