An approach for exploring combinatorial properties of R-path omega Interconnection networks
(Assumption University, 2010) Veselovsky, Gennady ; Assumption University. Vincent Mary School of Science and Technology
Multiple path multistage interconnection networks as compared to their parental one path cube-type networks provide better permutation capability and offer such important property as fault-tolerance. In this paper an approach for investigation permuting ability of R-path Omega networks is proposed. The analysis as concerned to arbitrary permutations is done with the help of number theory methods. As to BPC (bit-permute-complement) permutations admissibility check to the aforementioned type of networks, the modified window method is proposed. The aforementioned method reduces drastically the time complexity of admissibility check. The results of computational experiments with applying the technique to some permutations of BPC class are given.

Decoding acceleration of low-density parity-check codes for mobile wirelessMAN
(Assumption University Press, 2010) Watanyu Isarankura ; Batovski, Dobri Atanassov ; Assumption University. Vincent Mary School of Science and Technology
The low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes have a relatively simple algorithm for error correction. The best performance of such codes is demonstrated for large frame sizes and a substantial number of iterations. The decoding delay depends on the number of iterations being performed with the received noisy data in order to obtain the best estimate to the transmitted data. A modification of the standard LDPC decoding algorithm is proposed, which is based on a statistical comparison of true and False convergence of an attempted decoding acceleration with the use of the Epsilon algorithm for convergence acceleration of the series of decoding iterations for the individual bits in each transmitted frame. Using the LDPC codec for Mobile WirelessMAN as an illustration, it is shown that the True convergence dominates over the False convergence which follows to a better bit error rate (BER) performance as compared to the standard (plain) scheme for a given number of iterations.

Eight-channel transmultiplexer with binary matrix sequences
(Assumption University Press, 2010) Hossain, Syed Nabi ; Batovski, Dobri Atanassov ; Cooklev, Todor V ; Assumption University. Vincent Mary School of Science and Technology
The duals of finite impulse response filters constructed of binary matrix sequences are used to design an eight-channel transmultiplexer. The binary matrix sequences of analysis and synthesis filters are obtained from corresponding complementary sequences which satisfy the conditions for perfect reconstruction. The distorions of eight transmultiplexed images in the presence of channel noise are studied for the case of a simulated transmission over a Digital Video Broadcasting-Satellite-Second Generation (DVB-S2) system.

Sensory characteristics and consumer acceptance of fruit juice containing probiotics beads in Thailand
(Assumption University, 2010) Wunwisa Krasaekoopt ; Kamolnate Kitsawad, jt. auth. ; Assumption University. Vincent Mary School of Science and Technology
Although the survival of probitoics in fruit juices, which were nominated to be a good probiotic carrier, could be improved by using microencapsulation technique in alginate bead coated with chitosan, the satisfactoriness of the consumer must be considered. Consumer assessment and sensory evaluation of this product were performed by consumers in Thailand and by using descriptive analysis, respectively. Four hundred consumers from Bangkok and the suburbs of Bangkok were served with orange and grape juices containing probiotic beads together with questionnaire in order to determine the consumer demographic, buying behavior and consumer acceptance. Most consumers bought fruit juice due to its taste (9.6) and nutritional value (8.9). However, the addition of probiotic beads influenced the sensory quality of the product by increasing the swallowing difficulty and remaining particles of the products. The majority of consumers accepted orange and grape juices containing probiotic beads (82.3 and 84.3%, respectively), giving scores of texture and overall preferences as 6.6 and 6.7 for orange juice; and 6.8 and 6.9 for grape juice. Application of probiotic beads also increased turbidity of grape juice. Moreover, more than 86% of the participants were willing to try and purchase the product, reflecting existence of a potential market for fruit juice containing probiotic beads.

Topology control for long distance transmission in multihop ad hoc networks
(Assumption University Press, 2010) Kitikun Poolsub ; Benjaporn Lapwila ; Batovski, Dobri Atanassov ; Assumption University. Vincent Mary School of Science and Technology
This contribution is concerned with the performance evaluation of topology control algorithms for indoor ad hoc networks in multi-storey buildings. Several proposed topology control algorithms based on discrete sets are compared. The topology control algorithms operate with wireless links having variable transmission rates according to existing wireless communication standards. The maximum number of routing steps is limited to 15 hops. Computational experiments with a queuing analyzer for open networks are performed to extimate the connectivity between distant nodes in the network located at different vertical levels. The tradeoff between connectivity and delay-throughput is studied assuming that the algorithms are constrained to the selection of only five links by each node.
