Adapting CEFR for English language education in ASEAN, Japan and China
(Assumption University Press, 2019) Foley, Joseph A.
This paper will first outline and discuss the revised version of the Common European Framework of Reference Languages: Learning, teaching and assessment (CEFR) [ 2018] together with the Frameworks of Reference for English Language Education in Thailand Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan and China which are based on the CEFR. The indications are of potentially several issues that need to be addressed, including the fact that the local versions of CEFR were mainly based on the 2001 framework and not the 2018 which came later. Other issues such as using the same proficiency scales as the basis for rating scale criteria may lead to perceived equivalence but does not necessarily lead to greater comparability of shared criteria. There are also indications from a number of studies that the perceived view that CEFR as being mainly an assessment tool rather than about language competency may result in a negative attitude from both teachers, students and stake-holders.

Five components of teacher competence are pre-instruction, presentation, student learning, learning environment and professionalism. This study used the original questionnaire by Huyen (2003) study, which was adopted it from Medley (1977). All 168 full time teachers were surveyed in this study in Hanzhong High School of Shaanxi Province in the academic year 2018. This study found that there were significant differences about teacher competence according to age and education background in Hanzhong High School of Shaanxi Province. But there is no significant difference about teacher competence according to gender. For five components of teacher competence, teachers got the highest score in professionalism, but teachers have some problems in presentation.

A development model of administrators' leadership competencies for effective job performance in private higher education institutions
(Digital Production Press, Assumption University, 2017) Suvatinee Salee-on ; Sangob Laksana
The main purpose of this study was to develop the model of administrators’ leadership competencies for effective job performance in private higher education institutions. The five domains of Spencer & Spencer (1993) leadership competencies and the four domains of Thai Higher Education missions were used as theoretical framework for the study. This study was conducted with both quantitative and qualitative methods. The data was gathered from 351 lecturers from 7 private higher education institutions in Bangkok, Thailand. The questionnaire with 5 rating scales was used to collecting the data. Content analysis was used to analysis of qualitative data, descriptive statistics was applied through frequency, mean, and standard deviation to determine the current practice and desirable administrators’ leadership competencies for effective job performance, paired Samples t-test was computed to assess the gap analysis between the current practice and desirable administrators’ leadership competencies in order to find out the priority improvement and superior required for effective job performance in private higher education institutions. The resulted from the average mean showed that there was significant difference between current and desirable leadership competencies of administrators in private higher education institutions. The research findings revealed that there were 26 leadership competencies were superior for effective job performance exited and 24 leadership competencies superior needed to development and develop the model for administrators.

Hybrid Technique and Competence Preserving Case Deletion Methods for Case Maintenance in Case-Based Reasoning
    ( 2010) Lawanna, A. ; Daengdej, J.
Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) is one of machine learning algorithms for problem solving and learning that caught a lot of attention over the last few years. In general, CBR is composed of four main phases: retrieve the most similar case or cases, reuse the case to solve the problem, revise or adapt the proposed solution, and retain the learned cases before returning them to the case base for learning purpose. Unfortunately, in many cases, this retain process causes the uncontrolled case base growth. The problem affects competence and performance of CBR systems after few runs. This paper proposes two case maintenance methods; the first method is Hybrid technique which combines case addition strategy and the footprint deletion and footprint utility deletion strategy and the second is competence-preserving case deletion technique which is consisted of four steps: determine a set of target problems, determine a candidate of cases , determine target problem and its candidate, delete less relevant cases.

Raising awareness of career goals of insurance agents: a case study of Choomthong 24K26, AIA Company
( 2016) Panita Lasim ; Fernando, Maria Socorro Cristina L. ; Nathaya Pupat
This article is a summary of key study done on a group of AIA insurance agents (Choomthong 24K26). It focused on raising awareness of career goals of insurance agents. The study was based on three main factors; performance, excellence and self-development. The respondents of this study were 33 AIA agents who were selected according to their overall performance. Two main methods were used to collect data: interview and questionnaire. Data gathered through questionnaires were collected twice during the study period, firstly before ODI and secondly, after ODI while interview was only done after the ODI phase. There were various theories which aided in understanding the key factors behind the study. These were; whole brain, AIDA model, Ice-berg, Self-mastery model, Kurt Lewin's theory of change, Kotter's eight stages of change and lastly which was selected to guide in the ODI process was AI (Appreciative Inquiry). these theories gave an understanding on how the performance, self-development and excellence of an individual can be improved. Data analysis was done through the use of mean, standard deviation and the Wilcoxon matched-pair signed rank test. The alternative hypothesis for the study was that there is an impact of ODI on the performance, excellence and self-development of insurance agents. It was evident from the comparison of Pre and Post-ODI result of the data analysis that there was an improvement in the career goals of insurance thus the alternative hypothesis was accepted.

A study of the relationship between teachers’ perceptions towards their leadership capacity and competence at an international school in Thonburi, Thailand
(Bangkok : Assumption University Press, 2021) Tang, Ting ; Watana Vinitwatanakhun
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between teachers’ perceptions towards their leadership capacity and competence at an international school in Thonburi, Thailand. The participants of this study were 81 full-time teachers from the selected school during the academic year 2019-2020. This researcher used the high capacity leadership instrument adopted from Pierce (2007) based on Lambert’s (2003) Leadership Capacity School Survey (LCSS), as well as teachers’ competence survey adopted from Medley’s (1977) Theory of Teacher Competence. This researcher analyzed the collected data from the survey with Descriptive Statistics, Frequency and Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation, and the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The survey results showed that the teachers’ perceptions towards their leadership capacity and competence was high at this international school in Thonburi, Thailand. The r value was .677 with a significance value of .000, according to the Pearson correlation coefficient. The study indicated that there was a strong positive relationship between teachers’ perceptions towards their leadership capacity and competence at this international school in Thonburi, Thailand.

The relationship study of teacher's perception of their leadership capacity and teaching competence at Baoshan Experimental School, Shanghai, China
(Bangkok : Assumption University Press, 2022) Cui, Yehong ; Ye, Yan
The primary purpose of this research study was to determine the relationship between teachers' perceptions of their leadership capacity and competence at Baoshan Experimental School, Shanghai, China. The research instrument was a questionnaire for investigating the teachers' perceptions of their leadership capacity and competence adopted from the previous studies. A total of 120 teachers who were full-time teachers working at the school participated in this study during the academic year of 2020. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to identify teachers' perceptions of their leadership capacity and determine teachers' level of competence. Then, Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was then used to determine the significant relationship between teachers' perceptions of leadership capacity and their competence. The findings showed that teachers' perceptions of their leadership capacity and professional competence were high. Moreover, the correlation analysis result showed a strong positive relationship between teachers' perceptions of their leadership capacity and competence at Baoshan Experimental School, Shanghai, China.
