ItemAn intervention to improve students' class engagement of art department in China(Bangkok : Assumption University Press, 2022) Chen, Chi ; Rawin Vongurai ; Somsit Duangekanong ; Papitchaya WisankosolThis paper aims to enhance student class engagement. The four objectives of the action research are as follows: 1)To diagnose the current situation of the focal organization on student class engagement, 2)To design and implement organizational development intervention (ODI), 3)To determine the differences between pre-ODI and post-ODI of students’ autonomy, relatedness, usefulness, interest and student class engagement, and 4)To investigate the relationship of students’ autonomy, relatedness, usefulness, interest and student class engagement. The target group is the 45 students who study “Visual Communication Design” major in Art Department of Heilongjiang International University in China. Mixed research methods are adopted to collect and analyze the data. The Pair sample T-test shows that there is significant difference in students’ autonomy, relatedness, usefulness, interest and student class engagement between pre-ODI and post-ODI. The studies show that there is a positive relationship between students’ autonomy, usefulness, interest, relatedness and student class engagement. The qualitative analysis of students’ reflection reports and classroom observation feedback by three instructors justified how the ODIs employed in this research. Based on the findings, further actions should be carried out to have a greater impact on the long-term development.

ItemCreating the company of choice by improving employee morale and job satisfaction: a case study on YZJY Company( 2015) Song, Jie ; Fernando, Maria Socorro Cristina L.This research was conducted to determine the levels of employee morale and job satisfaction in relation to creating a company of choice. This research was conducted using the action research model involving the company managers and employees. Survey, observations, and interviews were used for data collection. The study determined the current situation of the employees' job satisfaction and morale that affected the company as a "company of choice"; identified appropriate organization development interventions (ODI) that could facilitate the creation of the company of choice; identified the initial impact of the OD interventions on employees' job morale and satisfaction in creating the company of choice; and measured the difference between the pre-ODI and post-ODI data on employee satisfaction and morale that created the company of choice. The results showed that the OD interventions conducted on the job satisfaction and job morale improved the preference level for the company of choice.

ItemDeveloping cross-cultural leadership skills and cross-cultural team working skills through organization development intervention: a case study of a multinational enterprise (MNE) in Thailand( 2016) Chavez, GloriaIn the present competitive world of business, organizations need constant improvement in their organizational performance in order to survive in the unprecedented changes, Many previous research studies revealed that employee performance had positive relationships directly with organizational performance; as employees are nobody but the customers themselves. This research study focused on the benefits of leadership management and employee engagement in terms of working as a team. The main purpose of the action research was to develop cross-cultural leadership skills as well as cross-cultural team working skills at Best Water Technology (Thailand), a multinational enterprise in Thailand. This was done through Organization Development Interventions (ODI) by implementing Whole Brain Literacy (WBL) together with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). The action research was conducted in three phases (pre-ODI / ODI / and post-ODI) to determine the differences between the pre-ODI phase and the post-ODI phase. The findings of this research disclosed the WBL and NLP concepts implemented in OD interventions were effective and valuable not only for personal development but also for organizational development as they developed cross-cultural leadership skills and cross-cultural team working skills among organizational members.

ItemDeveloping student leadership readiness, core leadership skills to enhance student engagement through organization development intervention: action research at Zhejiang Yuexiu University of foreign languages in Zhejiang Province, The people’s republic of China( 2021) Li, Bing ; Kim, SeongdokStudent leadership development has captured increasing concern in the field of education. Leadership plays an integral part in the fulfillment of 21st-century skills, namely, career and life skills,toadapt to the changing circumstancesand the need to cultivate talent. The present action research aimed to utilize effective OD interventions to develop students’leadership readiness and core leadership skills to enhance student engagement in campus-basedextracurricular activities in a privateuniversity in China. The action research was conducted in three stages:Pre-ODI, ODI, and post-ODI, starting with diagnosing problems in student leadership, followed by planning, intervening, assessing, and reinforcing. For the eight-month OD intervention, the sample consisted of80 freshmen randomly selected from the student organization. They werecategorizedinto two groups: an experimental group with ODIs and a control group without ODIs. Data werecollected by survey questionnaires,one-to-oneinterviews, andfocusgroupinterviews, using qualitative and quantitative research methodology.Results of the Paired Sample T-Test proved that there were statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group after ODIs. Students reported significant gains in leadership readiness and core leadership skills. Therewas a causal relationship among leadership readiness, core leadership skills, and student engagement. The results of the research suggest that purposeful leadership programs should be promoted in the form of offline and online extracurricular activities to cultivate leadership competency beginning with inward leadership and manifesting in outward leadership.

ItemEnhancing teachers engagement in Heilongjiang international University through organization development interventionThere are three goals of this action, including 1) To analyze the current situation of teachers engagement in Hei Longjiang International University (HIU), and the main factors affecting the engagement of teachers, 2) To Implement organization development intervention (ODI),3) To examine the impact of pre-ODI and post-ODI in teachers intrinsic motivation, teaching performance, immediate supervisor leadership and teachers engagement.This project involves two department of HIU, with a total of 60 people.This study used both qualitative and quantitative research methods. This study conducted data acquisitions by structured and semi-structural questionnaires. In pre-ODI, Reliability and Validity analysis were used to conduct that teachers intrinsic motivation, teaching performance, immediate supervisor leadership all have significant correlation with teachers engagement. The Paired Sample T-Test was used to make sure that there is a or no significant difference in each variable after ODI. Studies have found that there is a significant difference inteachers intrinsic motivation, teaching performance, and immediate supervisor leadership and teachers engagement between pre-ODI and post-ODI. According to the above results, the AI, training, team building that we used have achieved the expected results.Therefore, it is recommended to increase the training efforts, strengthen team building, and stimulate teachers intrinsic motivationto enhance teachers engagement in HIU.

ItemEnhancing the 21st century life skills of university students using whole brain literacy, experiential learning theory, and appreciative inquiry: an action research for Assumption University(Bangkok : Assumption University, 2019) Puntharee Israngkul na Ayudthaya ; Chavez, Gloria S. ; Lertchanta SeelaungsawatThis research investigated the effect of organization development interventions (ODI) using three modalities namely: Whole Brain Literacy (WBL), Experiential Learning Theory, and Appreciative Inquiry (AI) in enhancing the 21st Century Life Skills of undergraduate students in Assumption University of Thailand. An action research was conducted in three phases; pre-ODI, ODI, and post-ODI where both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used to explore, assess and gather the data to enhance the life skills of students which included thinking skills, action-related skills, creativity skills, relationship skills, and self-management skills. The quantitative data were collected by using the same set of questionnaire which has been developed from relevant sources on life skills development during before and after OD interventions to measure life skills with close-ended questions while the qualitative data were collected from an interview, observation, and group discussion. The Design of the Action Research used two groups of 30 students each, the first group went through Organization Development Interventions (ODI) and the second group of 30 was the control group without the ODI. The participants were selected by using Purposive sampling technique. The quantitative data was analyzed by using Paired Sample T-Test and the content analysis was used for the qualitative data. The findings reveal that OD interventions helped enhance the confidence level of life skills of the students involved in the study. As a recommendation, a new model for enhancing the life skills of students called “Life Skills Enhancement Model for Students: the Processes of Learning and Living on Purpose was developed.

ItemFacilitating effective change management process in a development bank in MyanmarThis research investigates to identify the successful intervention of change management in Myanmar's semi-government bank for systemic organizational change. The research has been done in ‘C’ Bank, Myanmar and employs the 41 respondents including different managerial levels from all departments including General Manager, Manager and staffs. This action research employs structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews in two phases: pre-ODI and post-ODI. The Pair sample T-test and the contents analysis of the interview passages translated from Myanmar to English for coding are included in data analysis and treatments. The results revel that there is a significant difference between the pre- ODI and the post-ODI of motivating change, creating a vision, developing political support and effective change management. Finding of this study suggest that the analysis on how to sustain the momentum of change in establishing the new organization structure, the impact of organizational structure change on branches, and the employees' satisfaction with a new structure should study in the future.

ItemThe impact of OD process consulting on goal setting, performance feedback, employee motivation, teamwork, and job performance: an action research of small and medium enterprise (SME) manufacturer( 2019) Vuttichai Voraphani ; Sming ChungviwatanantThis research determines the impact of OD Process Consulting on Goal Setting, Performance Feedback, Employee Motivation, Teamwork, and Job Performance in a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Manufacturer. The action research compared the difference of these five variables between pre-ODI and post-ODI of 71 respondents in production department of the company. To improve the level of these five variables, ODI activities were designed and implemented. These ODI activities included setting intermediate goals and official goal, revising personal incentive, creating department own digital-format performance feedback system, skill training on performance data mining and analysis, implementing best performance employee board, fishbone brainstorming, active meeting, relationship building through football activity. The findings showed that ODI was effective to all variables. Goal Setting, Performance Feedback, Employee Motivation, Teamwork, and Job Performance showed statistically significant differences after ODI activities implemented. There was improvement on all variables after the implementation of ODI.

ItemImproving employees' engagement and communication: a case study of professional accounting services (PAS) Chiangmai, Thailand( 2016) Koravich KharnijorThis research focused on engagement and the communication as most common factors that affect the people in an organization to be more productive. After a thorough analysis and consultation with the management team of PAS organization, the need for improvement for internal productivity exists. Therefore, OD interventions (ODI) were conducted to increase the level of employees' engagement and communication between the management and the employees to improve productivity. A total of 3 ODI were conducted; team building activity, group sharing session, and Whole Brain Literacy (WBL) coaching. The results of the activities were all in the positive aspect. Both qualitative and qualitative data collected showed positive outcomes especially in the area of communication understanding and internal working productivity. The engagement, communication understanding, and productivity increased by 2.74%, 10.47%, 7.86%, respectively.

ItemImproving students’ English proficiency by enhancing the motivation through organization development intervention-an action research study of a local university in ChinaThe research aims to enhance students’ English learning motivation so as to improve their English proficiency by applying the Socio-educational Model under OD interventions. The study focuses on three dimensions of motivation, namely, attitudes to learn the language (ALL), desire to learn the language (DLL), and motivational intensity (MI). The action research was conducted in the experiment group (N=53) through three stages: pre-ODI, ODI and post-ODI. The OD interventions in the study included team meetings, appreciative inquiry workshops, CLT class, and extra-class activity. By implementing the OD interventions, data were collected both from experiment group (N=53) and control group (N=53) based on Attitude /Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) questionnaires and English proficiency test to determine the significant relationship between OD interventions and students’ language learning motivation, as well as the relationship between language learning motivation and English proficiency. The results show that OD intervention effectively enhances students’ language learning motivation and language learning motivation has significant impacts on students’ language proficiency.
