The main purpose for the trip to Germany during 22 and 27 September 2019 is to seek opportunities to establish collaboration with Academic and Professional institutions in terms of student exchange program, internship, research and development and joint or dual degree possibilities. The team for this trip to Germany comprises Rev.Bro.Dr. Bancha Saenghiran (Assumption University President), Dr. Tussanai Parthornratt (Assistant to the Dean, Vincent Mary School of Engineering) and Dr. Bing Zhu (Lecturer, Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics).

The first visit took place at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) on 24 September 2019 from 10:30 until 13:00. The President of THI, Prof. Walter Schober welcomed AU team and made a presentation about THI covering wide range of programs, available facilities for teaching and research purposes at D025, D building. Prof. Claudia Lieske (Vice Dean of THI business school), Prof. Andreas Frey (Vice Dean of Faculty Electrical Engineering and Information Technology), Prof. Erol Ozger (Program director of Aerospace Engineering, Aircraft Design and Physics), Ms. Sonja Bedington (Head of International Office) and Ms. Anita Hirsch (International Affairs Coordinator) also came over to join this presentation. Lecture halls, laboratories for teaching and learning, laboratories for research and development were observed and it is apparent that the facilities available for students and learning environment are well suited to develop both knowledge and practical skills. The team visited Virtual Reality Laboratory, which is dedicated for virtual reality technologies and development including 3D-modeling and programming. The team also visited the Center of Automotive Research on Integrated Safety Systems and Measurement Area or CARISSA, which has been designed as leading scientific center for vehicle safety in Germany. The center contains more than 4,000 square meters of floor space housing a total of ten state-of-the-art test facilities including an indoor test facility for integrated safety systems (crash tests and robot-controlled vehicle tests), a drop tower, a Car2X lab, a safe energy storage lab, a simulation cluster, an HiL lab and a full-vehicle test bench.

For the second visit, Prof. Dr. Gabriele Gien, who is the President of The Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU), a Roman Catholic research university in Eichstätt and Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany welcomed the team to her university. The discussion on sustainable training for students of Assumption University and KU was made to pave the way for a strong connection in the future. The joint project- Impact Academy has been discussed and carried out between Department of Christian Social Ethics and Social Policy (KU) and Department of Management (AU), which is deemed to be initiative for the mutual collaboration. Student activities to promote sustainable innovation were also discussed with some KU students enrolled into MBA courses at AU.

On September 25, 2019, the team went to Aero Bildung, which is an EASA PART 147 Maintenance Training Organization (MTO) and an international company that deals primarily with the education and training in aviation located at the Special Airport Oberpfaffenhofen, a traditional site of aviation, Munich. Mr. Laurenz (Head of Projects Asia) joined the presentation and the discussion on collaboration was made on the basis of being the MTO (Maintenance Training Organization). Further and more detailed discussion can be made when Mr. Laurenz come to Thailand during 21-24 October and 11-14 November 2019mutual interest. At initial stages, Aero Bildung and VME will seek possibilities on short courses and trainings to expand for hands-on experience of aircraft maintenance students. The two-storey hangar containing various types of aircrafts for training purposes including small aircraft, commercial aircraft or even a helicopter was observed and it is fully equipped with facilities to explore every part of these aircrafts. Mr. Laurenz told the team that this hangar differs from the actual settings and configuration of MRO (Maintenance and Repair Organization) due to.
