Description
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Coronation Hall MCMLXXXIX at Assumption University on 7 November 1990. The Coranation Hall is a veritable skyscraper: fifteen storeys, each floor designed in a manner to best serve the ever expanding needs of the university community. Several floors are designated as class rooms and seminar rooms. There is a large, well equipped computing center. The building also houses the Center for Research in Business, the Center for Institutional Research, the ABAC School of Arts with its language laboratories, the ABAC School of Science and Technology and the workshop for the hotel management department, not to mention the large number of offices for instructors, professors chairpersons, directors and vice presidents.
Students in the department of hotel management can combine their theoretical studies and the practical application of these studies with hands on-experience by observing the day to day operations on the top four floors of the building which comprise a European style restaurant and forty five fully furnished hotel suites.
The foundation for Coronation Hall was laid in March 1988 and construction was completed within two years, the building becoming fully functional in May 1990.
The Thai name for Coronation Hall is Chalerm Rachamongkol. The building was erected in honour of the longest reigning Monarch in Thai History, His Majesty, King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
