    Strategies exploration for academic achievement improvement through organization development interventions (ODI) :a study of Kwara State University, Malete
    This paper focuses on exploring possible strategies for academic achievement improvement of tourism management students. The study in ODI perspective utilizes action research and survey feedback approach and employed mixed methodology comprising quantitative and qualitative in Nigeria context. Data were collected using semi structured questionnaire. Quantitative data are presented on tables and pie charts and analyzed through PSPP statistical analysis free software tool entailing simple descriptives, percentages and means (M). It presents, codifies, and analyzes qualitative data using thematic analysis on MS Excel spread sheet. The results show that input [curriculum] and process [teaching methods and resources] drive academic achievement while degree awards affect employability of tourism management graduates. The paper concludes that ODI can significantly influence strategy exploration in education context.

    The influence of enterprise online information behavior on consumer satisfaction

    Based on findings from previous studies a model of the influence of enterprise online information behavior on consumer behaviors was formulated, analyzed, and developed using data collected by questionnaire from a sample of 479 consumers in the context of China. Enterprise behavior is represented by three constructs (information disclosure, interaction, and utilization) which influence consumer behaviors related to perceptions of pleasure, control, and attention and in turn consumer satisfaction. Many of the findings related to direct effects that have been reported in previous studies conducted in the context of western societies were confirmed. However, there were new findings related to significant direct, indirect, and total effects on consumer satisfaction due to information disclosure, interaction, and utilization. Apart from the theoretical contribution of the study, especially the analysis of indirect and total effects, there were practical implications. These are discussed with the objective of improving enterprise online behaviors with positive consequences for consumer behaviors and especially for improved consumer satisfaction. Importantly, the study addresses the limited number of previous studies conducted with Chinese consumers in online environments in China.

    An organization development intervention to enhance the learning organization: a case study of student affairs, Assumption University of Thailand
    Higher education is evolving rapidly in today’s environment of global connectivity, technological advances and student diversity. The education industry must respond to these changes in order to remain viable. As a key division in the university, Student Affairs plays a vital role in helping universities respond to changes by ensuring that students’ needs are addressed effectively. To accomplish this, Student Affairs must continuously be able to improve by becoming skilled at creating, acquiring and transferring knowledge, in short, it must become a learning organization. The purpose of this study is to enhance the Student Affairs Division of Assumption University to become a learning organization by using organizational development methods including diagnostic procedures, organizational interventions and training programs. Qualitative and quantitative methods were utilized for this study. Data was collected through interviews and questionnaires. Pre-ODI analysis revealed that members of Student Affairs, although cognizant of the importance of some aspects of the learning organization, were not consistent in their behavior and actions. OD interventions were employed to increase both knowledge and behavior in regards to learning organization culture. They included team building, coaching, Appreciative Inquiry and SOAR workshops. Post-ODI analysis of the experimental and control groups using a paired samples t-test, supported by a calculation of Cohen’s effect size, revealed a significant difference in the total gain scores for Pre-ODI and Post-ODI results. The interventions were found to have an effective result in enhancing the learning organization culture in the Student Affairs Division of Assumption University.

    Developing student leadership readiness, core leadership skills to enhance student engagement through organization development intervention: action research at Zhejiang Yuexiu University of foreign languages in Zhejiang Province, The people’s republic of China
    Student leadership development has captured increasing concern in the field of education. Leadership plays an integral part in the fulfillment of 21st-century skills, namely, career and life skills,toadapt to the changing circumstancesand the need to cultivate talent. The present action research aimed to utilize effective OD interventions to develop students’leadership readiness and core leadership skills to enhance student engagement in campus-basedextracurricular activities in a privateuniversity in China. The action research was conducted in three stages:Pre-ODI, ODI, and post-ODI, starting with diagnosing problems in student leadership, followed by planning, intervening, assessing, and reinforcing. For the eight-month OD intervention, the sample consisted of80 freshmen randomly selected from the student organization. They werecategorizedinto two groups: an experimental group with ODIs and a control group without ODIs. Data werecollected by survey questionnaires,one-to-oneinterviews, andfocusgroupinterviews, using qualitative and quantitative research methodology.Results of the Paired Sample T-Test proved that there were statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group after ODIs. Students reported significant gains in leadership readiness and core leadership skills. Therewas a causal relationship among leadership readiness, core leadership skills, and student engagement. The results of the research suggest that purposeful leadership programs should be promoted in the form of offline and online extracurricular activities to cultivate leadership competency beginning with inward leadership and manifesting in outward leadership.

    How’s my English? The English communication needs of wellness spa therapists’ in Thailand
    This study focuses on the English communication needs of wellness spa therapists in Thailand. This is supported by an objective: to identify the needs of spa therapists in English communication specifically to the target situation. This study is deemed important so that a specific English language course can be recommended. The study employed a qualitative method employing observation and semi-structured interviews as instruments to collect data and used purposive sampling to select the participants. There were 30 spa therapists and one assistant manager participated in this study. The findings revealed that spa therapists have different needs with regards to English communication in the target situation. This includes 1) the needs for familiarization of the basic English pronunciation; 2) the needs for knowing specific vocabularies while dealing with customers' situation and needs, and 3) the needs for knowing different phrases and sentences to construct different word-formation. The implication based on the findings, therefore, is that, pedagogically, it is recommended that, ideally, a course should be developed for the spa therapists that can focus on the English language communication that could help them with specific vocabularies, words, and phrases to be used in the target situation. Consequently, as wellness centers are normally visited by people from different part of the world, the aim therefore should not be on the English language alone but varieties of English that people used globally, so that spa therapists would know ‘what words to be used’, ‘how words should be used’ and ‘what context should be used.
